Government of India approved the National Medical Devices Policy, 2023. The medical devices sector in India is a sunrise sector which is growing at a fast pace with estimated market size $11 billion (approximately, ₹ 90,000 Cr) in 2020 and its share in the global medical device market is estimated to be 1.5%. Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has finalized and issued the guidelines for floating structures, with a vision to set up world-class floating infrastructure all along the coastline, in the upcoming projects as per the provisions contained in the guidelines. The guidelines sets out various technical aspects for implementation of Floating Jetties / Platforms for Marinas, Minor Harbors, Fishing Harbours / Fish landing centers, Waterdromes and such other similar facilities in coastal areas, estuaries, waterways, rivers and reservoirs. These guidelines may also be suitably utilized for floating pontoons/platforms in various waterborne systems and floating wave attenuators (or breakwaters) for Minor Harbors/Fish Landing facilities. |

08/12/2016 | Industry News | Government of India released National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP)-2016 The Ministry of Civil Aviation released the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP)-2016 on 15th June 2016 with a vision to create an eco-system to make flying affordable for the masses and to enable 30 crore domestic ticketing by 2022 and 50 crore by 2027, and international ticketing to increase to 20 crore by 2027. Similarly, cargo volumes should increase to 10 million tonnes by 2027.The Ministry has modified the requirement for 5/20 and all airlines can now commence international operations provided that they deploy 20 aircraft or 20% of total capacity (in term of average number of seats on all departures put together), whichever is higher for domestic operations. The Ministry has issued revised categorization of routes under RDG which will apply from the Winter Schedule of 2017. |

25/08/2014 | Industry News | New Holistic Fertiliser Policy to be Unveiled The Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Ananth Kumar has said that the government proposes to come out with a new holistic fertilizer policy. The Minister speaking at the 4th National Conference on Agrochemicals 2014, in New Delhi today, said that such a decision was taken after directions from the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in this regard at a recent review meeting on the subject. Shri Anantha Kumar said that a Task Force of Experts in the field will be constituted to frame such a policy soon. This could provide for a national platform for farmers to use bio-fertilisers. Elaborating on the theme for the conference: “Agrochemicals for Ensuring Food and Nutritional Security of the Nation”, he said the Green Revolution of 60s and 70s was not a holistic, but a truncated revolution. Expressing serious concern at irrational usage of fertilizers he said, this could have an adverse affect for achieving a sustainable food and nutritional security for the nation. |
22/07/2014 | Industry News | Indian Government prepared Vision Document–2015 for food processing industries In order to promote food processing industries, increase level of processing and exploit the potential of domestic and international market for processed food products, Vision Document-2015 was prepared by the Ministry, which envisaged trebling the size of investment in the processed food sector by increasing the level of processing of perishables from 6% to 20%, value addition from 20% to 35% and share in global food trade from 1.5% to 3% by 2015. The Agreement was signed by Shri Namo Narain Meena, Minister of State (E&FS), on behalf of Government of India and H.E. Mr. Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs of UAE on behalf of Government of UAE. The text of the Agreement, which seeks to promote and protect investments from either country in the territory of the other country with the ultimate objective of increasing bilateral investment flow, was finalized on October 30-31, 2013 at Abu Dhabi. The Agreement requires each country to encourage and create favourable conditions for investors of the other country to make investment in its territory and to admit investments in accordance with its laws. |

27/10/2011 | Industry News | Government approves Rs 2100 Crore Projects for establishing 21 new Textiles Parks Government has sanctioned 21 new Textiles Parks under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Parks with a project cost of Rs. 2100 crores to be implemented over a period of 36 months. The Scheme for Integrated Textiles Parks seeks green field investments in textiles sector on a public private partnership basis with the objective of setting up world class infrastructure for Textiles industry. The duration for completion of this project will be 36 months. Commerce Industry and Textiles Ministry said that the new Textiles Parks would leverage an investment of over Rs. 9000 crores and provide employment to 4 lac textiles workers. Government would finance common infrastructure with a subsidy upto Rs. 40 crores per Textiles park. The product mix in these parks would include apparels and garments parks, hosiery parks, silk parks, processing parks, technical textiles including medical textiles, carpet parks, powerloom parks. |

The setting up of 15 new Mega Food Parks will result in creation of state of the art infrastructure in major parts of the country with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlets. The projects are expected to bring about substantial reduction of wastage, value addition, employment generation and increased income for the farmers. The Scheme will be implemented in a market driven manner commensurate with both global and national demands. Innovative supply chain management will be the key to implementation of this scheme. |
